Bartons Arms
your comments review this restaurant
A classic Victorian Pub with outstanding ceramic tiling, mahogany woodwork and giant open fires. It was paired with the Aston Hippodrome which was right opposite (the Globe cinema was on the other corner) and they each benefitted from each other. The link between the 'Hipp' and the Barton's is wonderfully illustrated in Ron Dawson's 'The Last Viking: the Untold Story of the World's Greatest Heist'. The gang that pulled it off, the Aston Villains, met in the Bartons every Friday night, then, as now, Villains night out! While M&B mild was their regular pint, they would have approved of the delicious Oakhams ales now served. Get the book and get yourselves down there!!
