Dawat Balti
your comments review this restaurant
My wife and I have been coming to The Dawat every two weeks for fourteen years, and have introduced both family and friends who continue to eat here. The food has all ways been excellent as are the size of the portions. We have never been disappointed over this time. The staff, the service and the prices are first class and a very warm welcome is given to all customers.
The fact that this restaurant continues to be so popular says all that needs to be said. The new decor is perfectly in keeping with a modern restaurant that continues to deliver such first class value in traditional food; and what a superb touch is the open plan kitchen, where you can see food being cooked. Of all Balti Restaurants in the Birmingham area that we have eaten at, The Dawat remains our favourite.

I returned to Dawat for the first time in several years on saturday night. The new decor is superb and the food is fantastic. My only gripe is that they no longer offer their enormous table-sized nan bread which was a real show stopper.

We have been going to the Dawat for about ten years now and can honestly say that the food has always been superb. Some weeks it is spicier than others but always superb.
Long may it continue to thrive.

It was the first time we have eaten at the Dawat since it's recent refurbishment and what a difference it has made!
The dining area has received a terrificly comfortable contemporary / modernist refit without being OTT. The open plan BBQ kitchen and a wash hand basin in the dining area are particularly nice touches.
The menu has reduced in size to something more manageable where they can cocentrate on producing quality fare rather than variety.
Having eaten around Ladypool Road, Stoney Lane and Stratford Road for nearly 30 years, and travelling regulary to India, I know my curry and this is now the tastiest and most authentic Asian food that you can eat in Birmingham IMO.
Congrtaulations !!!

Four of us ate at the Dawat Balti on Saturday evening and were greatly impressed. The food was excellent and although the service was not very quick this was probably because the place was absolutely packed.
Highly recommended

This is by far the best balti house in Brum the service and food is excellent as well is the price!!!!
If you are going out for a good affordable meal then Dawat it must be.The new fit out is excellent and if the proposed juice bar goes ahead upstirs then this will enhance the restaurant even more..

Dawat has been a successful family ran restaurant that has been serving good quality and value for money food for years. It has since undergone an extensive facelift that brings into the contemporary feel that boasts alot of the new modern decor establishments that are popping up everywhere.
The staff are very friendly and always on hand should any questions arise. The decor is very swish and boasts natural coffee and cream colours. There is a washbasin in a lovelymosaic sea colour towards the rear of the restaurant which is always good when you have finished delving around your balti. They have positioned an open kitchen also at the rear of the restaurant which is priliminarily for making starters and naans etc... The main courses all come from the main kitchen out the back. I thought that it would get quite smokey inside the restaurant as all the beautuful smelling sizzlers appeared every minute or so but was very impressed with the big canopy for ventilation as I used to stink when I used to get home pre modernisation! The menu itself has been reduced somewhat as one would suggest, there is no reason to advertise what no one eats! They do have some nice additions to the menu though, like TAWA CHICKEN OR LAMB. This is so mouthwatering and still they won't tell me the secret ingredients!! Nothing has got worse with this place just a great improvement of both food standards and interior design. This is a must to visit but always try to book on a weekend as even as regulars, we have had to queue! All in all, a worthwhile experience and I can say I'm addicted to the place, the food and the staff humour!!
