Desi Khana Perdesi
your comments review this restaurant
I recently went to Desi Khana with my family, to celebrate the birth of my niece.
The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were unbelievably friendly, and welcomed us very warmly. The manager was happy to answer any queries we had, and had a very positive attitude towards his business and his customers.
The food was served slightly late, so we asked the manager why it had been late, and he explained to us that all the food they cook is fresh so the quality may take a little bit of extra time. We then received the food and the lateness was justifiable!
It may have been given to us a little bit late, but the quality of the food was unreal, it was the first curry I have tasted in the UK which actually tastes like a traditional curry. I have never been so happy with a restaurant before. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like tasty, Asian food of excellent quality.
The decoration of the restaurant really gave you the Asian feeling, the atmosphere was very alive and the waiters and manager were very happy to answer any queries.
This restaurant by no doubt is the best restaurant that I have ever been to!!
It is a great restaurant to go with the whole family, including the children. It has a great vibe to the whole place.
The price was very good, seeing as there was 20 of us who went!!
So, this restaurant is for those who love a good curry, traditional atmosphere and people who would like a taste of Asian culinary!!
I was extremely pleased about the visit!! I will definitely go back soon with the whole family!! It is a great night out for the whole family!!!

the food is excellent quality, it comes to you still sizziling on the pan it was cooked on, the service varies from waiter to waiter as some of them have been in england longer and are able to speak english more fluently, the atmosphere could use some work but overall the restauraunt is very good.

To be quite frank, you can travel the country and you will not find a curry as unique, traditional and rich in flavour as you get in Desi Khana.. Yes, it would be desirable if all the waiters spoke perfect english.. Yes its a tad pricey.. But if you know good food.. you know where to go..

It's overpriced yes. But the food is unique and very good. It's not your typical 'curry joint' because they're not trying to cater for white punters.
It's a desi restaurant for Desis! So no chicken tikka masala! This is traditional kashmiri food. I love the place because it is different and authentic but without doubt for the price you pay the portions are fairly small so it's not a place you can go every day. More a nice treat every once in a while.

I think Selina's review is a little unfair as I have been going there for many years however ,i do agree the pricing needs looking at.

Parking difficult as it's on a main road and red route.
The decor is basic, spartan but passable - chairs ethnic hardwood, however not amazing.
I found the food very poor - chappal kebabs, heavy and uncomfortable. The main course of ahari lamb and chicken jalfrezi were both poor. Overcooked, lacking colour and taste and they appeared burnt and lacking the essential in Asian cooking - tomatoes.
However the mango shake was excellent.
We had to leave all the food and gasped at the bill. We're asians and must advise other desi's to avoid this establishment until the chef learns cooking isn't burning and tomatoes are available less than 20 yards away at the grocers.

I visited Desi Khana with my family on the back of recomendations and word of mouth. Having been disappointed by recomendations in the passed, I was sceptical but was pleasently surprised. One of the best Balti's we have had coupled with attentive and friendly service. Overall good decor, nice ambience, great 'traditional' cuisine - Parking would have been the icing on the cake.
