Well having read the other reviews I just had to add mine.

When ever i visit my son in Birmingham we always go to the Big Wok.

I don`t know of any other place ANYWHERE IN THE UK that is as good value ,and I think the standard of food and service is first class.

Visited this place for first time Saturday 27/10/07.

Food was O.K for the price you pay, judging by the que that had formed when I left it must be popular.

Reminded me a bit of Thai food halls that are spread througout Bangkok with the constant chatter and smell of different spices etc.

Beer was reasonable and priced same as bar.

Not sure I would que for long to gain entry though.........worth a try if you have never been.

The Big Wok is phenomonally popular with large groups of students and work colleagues, because of its cheapness and its extensive all-you-can-eat buffet. The strange thing is that when talking about this restaurant with people who've been, no-one actually seems to LIKE it. The atmosphere is always over-crowded and inordinately noisy; having a conversation is scarcely easier than it would be in a nightclub. The food is reasonable, but it's Anglo/Americanised into bland fast-food style. Worst, the staff seem disorganised and are likely not to be prepared for your arrival even when you'd booked three weeks earlier.

A couple of my friends and I went to the Big Wok, the variety of food was great, everything from sushi to different desserts. It was a fantastic way of trying lots of different things and only paying the one fixed price. Was a bit hectic, so I would not recommend it for an intimate dinner!!

Would definitely give it an 8 out of 10.
