Cafe Paxton

I visited this cafe on Friday 10 Nov 06. It was lunchtime (1pm) but the place was practically empty. We ordered the same thing: haddock risotto which was lovely and the portion very large. In contrast, the mediterrannean salad was a disaster - leaves from a packet sprinkled with some funny tasting stone-cold roasted vegetables. We put up with it as the risotto was so nice. Dessert was a different story - we ordered fondue to share. The chef kindly substituted the advertised marshmallows for some fruit but the actual white chocolate sauce was very thick, lumpy and the consistency of sick. The shock was to come though: the menu stated that the fondue was 'For 2 to share' and cost £6.95. As this was more than the other desserts it sounded about right. But when I got to the till I was told it was £6.95 PER PERSON! That's £14 for a small fondue! Avoid.
