Being Chinese, I can tell u that the dim sum lunch here was dissapointing. They never offered you a choice of tea which is bog standard at any decent size Chinese restaurant. Not even set the table up properly after being seated. The steamed Shanghi dumpling came to us semi-cooked, pastry raw. The prawn churn-fun had a missing prawn on 1 of 3 rolls. The service was poor, as they kept taking our vinegar dip away before we could use it for our food!! 3 times in fact we had to remind the waiter to stop taking it away. The supposed Vietnamese Spring Roll which they verbally said they had came out as 2 long vegetarian spring rolls!!! When I enquired this wasn't Vietnamese spring roll, they took it in brought it out again the same. Extremely expensive for the low quality of food. Won't be going back or recommending it. On top, they were frying food without good ventilation in the main lower floor of the restaurant, disaster!!

i am a great fan of chinese food i have been fortunate to have eaten chinese dishes all over the world and I can honestly say there is no better place then chung ying.

There are so many dishes to choose that it caters for all and the service is fantastic i have enjoyed a meal there everytime i have visited birmingham and would recomend to all.

As for the smokeing policy me being a non smoker my self can say i have never had a problem as the building is large and air conditioned.

I was really looking forward to eating at this resturant, the menu was extensive and food looked and smelt lovely. However when we were seated I was really dissapointed as people were smoking all around us. There was no non-smoking area even though the restaurant was spaced over two floors, being 8 months pregnant and a non smoker this was very off putting and so we weren't able to enjoy the meal we were looking forward to. I am very surprised at this considering most restaurants and even cafe's at least have a non smoking area or are all non smoking nower days.
