I had dinner with a friend of mine from Oxfordshire on Saturday night an we couldn't inderstand why the restaurant was only half full!

The food choice was superb (not often i get to say that as a veggie!) and the standard of presentation and flavour was faultless.

There service was spot on - we were given time to enjoy our food and were under no pressure to get out within 90 mins.... very rare in city centre restaurants these days.

My friend and i had a great chance to catch up in good surroundings, with great food, good wine and no hassle!

Thanks - we both left stress free, full and happy!

Bright, stylish and modern but with welcome old-fashioned touches such as white table linen and napkins. Food on 'Market menu' was very good and of adequate portion. A nice touch on arrival of main course was the ready offer of more bread (just in case we had doubts about the quantity I guess).

I visited the City Cafe recently and had some reservations after the comments here, how wrong they were! This place is now at the top of my list, the service was excellent, food full of flavour. The place deserves to be full every night. The waitress told us they have a new restaurant manager, lets hope what ever they are doing continues for much longer. Give this place a try I'm sure you wont be disapointed!

Visited the City Cafe after a recommendation, the food was okay, but my side dish of roast parsnips was undercooked and my husbands meal was over salted. The waitress was fairly miserable and didn't even bother to ask whether we had enjoyed our meals. We were left to pile our coats up next to us, whilst one table along someone sat on his phone for the whole time we were eating!

Overpriced, poor service and mediocre, if well presented food.

I have mixed feelings on this restaurant as I have dined here several times and each time walked out with a differing opinion. There have been occassions where the food is divine and the service is impeccable, then there have also been times when I have felt very rushed by the waiters and ignored during busy periods. The quality of food also differs at each visit. The house wine is a must, very fruity and rich! My partner absolutely adores the place and i'm sure he will drag me there many more times!

What a disappointment! The restaurant was freezing - the service was slow - the food tepid and the portions minute! A real let down.
