Frankie and Benny's (Broadway Plaza)

Boyfriend and I went to watch a film for 8, but selected the 8.45 showing so we could have some food. There is a small selection in the AMC but had only been into Frankie and Benny’s for cocktails before so thought we’d sample the food.

We were seated straight away. The waiter was very attentive and polite. It was 8pm when we ordered, my boyfriend wanted the Manhattan burger but on finding out that it would take 25mins to cook opted for the Summer steak salad instead, as we were told the salads are the speediest to prepare. I picked the sticky chicken salad over the chicken salad. Sounded more interesting.

10 mins after the Manhattan burger would’ve been brought out we were still there with no food, no matter how interesting our conversation of yawning theories and his newly discovered russian martial arts moves were, we were hungry and runnign late for the movie (taking trailer times into consideration).

So when it arrived, I was pretty shocked. It was lettuce, (not quite), 4 wedges of tomato and some chicken in the sauce. It was a salad without salad. I asked for the menu and pointed out that it was lacking other ingredients of the salad. Also the lettuce wasn’t freshly cut lettuce, it was big chunks of purple and green out of a tesco bag, which conveniently is across the road from them. they didn’t even try to disguise it. Basically all the bits of lettuce that i would normally chuck away when serving at home. It came with a garlic ciabatta bread which nearly every dish accompanies and that was the only okay thing about the food.

We had 10mins for the film and the other half doesn’t like a fuss so I settled for a side salad with my salad. Funnily enough the side salad actually had fresh lettuce!!!, cucumber, onion, etc and was nice.

The sticky sauce was really salty, chicken was edible. The waiter took a soft drink off the price and didn’t charge for the side salad and I appreciate it’s not his fault but I have to be honest, I would never eat there again. And for £8.45 it’s not the cheapest of salads in town. I had a rump steak salad for £13 something at All Bar One on Sunday and it was probably one of the best salads of my life. The price difference doesn’t reflect as much variation as the quality. Also at the ropewalk they do a lovely Grilled steak salad for about £7 which is also stunning. My point is that quality food is acheivable even on a budget.

Dining at Chez Jules tonight, 3 courses £15 and absolutely beautiful food. Stick to what i know in future.

shut up juicy lucy, the food is fantastic at this restaraunt.INFACT... it gets my top marks for cooking, servicing and all they do,,its just that your taste buds ain working properly : )

This place is quiet frankly (geddit ..) terrible!

We waited for 10 minutes for someone to guide us to a table (it was a Wednesday night and pretty much empty). The surly waitress then came over and said there was no draft beer, no smoothies and no burgers. We ordered our drinks and waited 15 minutes for a coke and a bottle of lager. When the food eventually came my boyfriend and I just had to laugh .. I had the new york chicken, a tiny chicken breast, with one rasher of streaky bacon, and handful of cheese that hadnt even melted and a teaspoon of bqq sauce ... oh and how did i forget the 15 chips and withered corn on the cob. My boyfriends "italian" chicken was in the same state but minus the corn. £10.95 EACH !!

Frankie and Bennys .. never again its a rip off ... a place that draws in the punters with the promise of a "fun american time" when really its just a fast food joint that makes a 200% profit on everything they sell.

Hmmph, as you can see i do not appriciate a bad meal !!

Cant see what these people mean me and my boyfriend have been over 10 times (its like our special eating place) and the food and service is fantastic! Never experienced a long wait for drinks or food! waiting for a table can be a problem (because they are busy) but if you dont want to wait BOOK!!! food is good value for money and tastes great.. i recomend the new york chicken and brownie to share for desert! Its great.

Terrible terrible service when the restaurant was only half full - drinks wait 20 minutes and arrived halfway through meal , no draught lager. Food was quick but very poor quality .

Had to keep asking repeatedly for anything we wanted.

Will not retun -put off F&Bs for good.

Went to this restaurant, very nice, some portions are a bit small for the price. like on a burger meal, burger was tiny and had a few chips which all cost about £9. very nice thow and quick food. had to wait ages for a drink thow when i ordered one.

Went here on my birthday for a bite before visiting the cinema.... stood waiting to be seated for ages whilst moody looking staff saw us there and carried on about there business.... woman eventually stopped chatting to collegues out the back, threw two menus in front of us at our able and disappeared - noone offered to take our drink order... waited 5 minutes then walked out.... staff useless, moody and unhelpful.
