Golden Pond
your comments review this restaurant
We recently visited the Golden Pond Restaurant and I can genuinely say the service is the worst I have ever experienced when eating out!
We waited over an hour for them to offer us drinks or take our order. We got fed up waiting so went to the bar ourselves, by this time we were starving.
Eventually the starter came, but when we requested knives and forks for the less dextrous of our party we were greeted with a ‘tut’ and the waitress virtually slammed a whole pile of knives and forks on the table! By this point it was laughable, like Faulty Towers.
After eating the starter we waited another 45 minutes or so for the main course to arrive.
The buffet consisted of 1 small bowl of rice and 4 main courses for 7 people!
When we asked about this we were told ‘it’s alright mate you have got 2 more to come’. A bit of common courtesy wouldn’t have gone a miss.
We had booked the table for 8pm, but by the end of the meal it was 10 past 11!
To sum up, don’t bother going to the golden pond, it’s not cheap at £11.80 per head for the buffet and the service is atrocious.

The Golden Pond is a very friendly Cantonese restaurant offering great deals for parties and all-you-can-eat buffets. The menu is not as extensive or extravagant as some of the restaurants in the Chinese quarter, and the atmosphere not as intimate – this is more a venue for groups of friends or work colleagues. But the food is very well prepared and authentic, and the cheerful atmosphere of the place makes it a lovely place to dine.
