We have eaten here a few times, after the first time i was not really interested to go back but we were invited by friends so we went along and it had not really improved, fairly boring menu that was just made and served - no really passion

We have eaten and stayed here many times, and are never disappointed. The staff are polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and the maitre d' and sommelier were brilliant - recommending dishes and accompanying wines. The food is of a very high quality - the steaks in particular are amazing!

Three of us had a meal at Hotel du Vin last night, at the rec from another friend and a read of reviews on this forum.

It was realy good.

No fault with any of the food that we were served. It became fairly busy as the evening progressed, and justifiably so, but no rush to usher us from our table whatso ever.

I would have liked to have a choice of cheese instead of sweet, but they clearly know their business so perhaps the demand isn't there to provide a good quality. also it would have been nice to have been bid fairwell as we left. The helpping on of coats and door opening with a "Thank you for coming" seemed to have been beneath the staff.

Food, service, ambience, all realy good

I will defeinatley be going to Hotel du Vin again

Went for a evening meal on my birthday. Fantastic ! what a revelation all these years eating out in Birmingham and this was my first time. The bar well stocked and service impeccable. Decor fabulous and people very friendly even the hen party on the next table were well behaved. My starters, a cold meat platter, had an excellent variety of ham & salami. But the best was yet to come, my steak was perfection the best I've eaten this year. Not cheap but well worth it if is a special treat.

This is definitely one of the best hotels in Birmingham. The Bistro is very relaxed, with excellent food and excellent wine.

There is a broad range of food to choose from, without the menu being too extensive, and the food is always beautifully fresh and tasty.

Service is always top notch too and the staff are always interesting in making sure that their customers have a pleasurable experience.

I love it.

HDV restaurant is a very warm and relaxed place with fantastic food and typically French service with, of course, amazing wine. I suggest the chap who didn't like it be more suited to one of those "all you can eat" £5.99 style buffets.
