Me and my best friend decided to visit Jimmy's Spices in Birmingham yesterday

(Thursday 01 May). After reading some of the negative reviews we were reluctant to go however, I am so glad we did. The food was wonderfull, they had a wide variety of different dishes and unlike other buffet restaurants the staff were extremely friendly and didn't make me and my friend feel uncomfortable, when we got up at least six times each to get refills of the tasty food on offer.

The buffet was constantly updated, so you never missed a chance to taste the food. The noodles in the Thai section tasted amazing, the ingredients were fresh and they allowed you to choose your own toppings, cooking it in minutes right in front of you!

I would absolutley without a doubt, recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was warm, and lively. The staff friendly and the service was excellent. The only thing I regret was not being able to tip the waiter.

We went on a Sunday evening and it was rather quiet, which made even less excuse for the abmisal service.

It took 20 mins to get a waiter to take a drinks order and even longer for the drinks to appear.

I'm not a great fan of Thai or Indian food, but my husband is and I was looking forward to trying the Italian - what I didn't expected was congealed cold pasta that was made up of all different pasta shapes in an none descipt sauce and cold pizza with curried chicken on it.

The only saving grace for me was the ice cream!

I think this place really isn't interested in small groups or people who don't eat curry.

Took a party of 16 to celebrate my Fiances birthday. We were treated really well by the staff and the food was excellent. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the place does get a bit chaotic, but I think that this adds to the experience! There is a good selection to suit all tastes I particularly liked the fish balls in chilli sauce......yummy. The chefs are kept really busy and the food is straight from the oven or Wok. We dined at 7pm and were politely asked to leave our table at 9.30pm.....Not bad really. I would recommend this if you like a noisy bustling night out.

We will be back!!!!

A group of 6 of us went to Jimmy Spices for a birthday dinner. Like every restaurant it has both good and bad points. The good points were that the food was hot, fresh, plentiful and delicious, with something for everyone. You have to pace yourself as there is so much on offer. The dosa, and the stir fry are particularly good. The spring rolls are delicious and the pizza is lovely too. The dessert table was full of fruit, cake, cheescake, mousse and an ice cream machine (which was fun, and yummy!)

The bad side was that because the resataurant was so busy, the staff seemed to want people to guzzle their fod down and leave..not ideal if you want a relaxed fun evening out, which is exactly what dining out at a bustling restaurant like this should be.

The manager actually came and asked us to vacate our table as he had peopl waiting-quite frankly- not my problem!

All said and done though, we had a great night, and im definatley going to go back.

p.s The non alcholic fruit punch is to die for!

7 of us went to Jimmy's, to be honest food was OK but the service, my god, i don't know what to say. comepletely dis-organised, very busy restaurant, just like BT and British gas customer services always been poor as they are big company.

ive been there a couple of times-its strange because it looks like you've got lots of choices but when it comes to the asian food, you actually havent.

its more starters than anything else-its a very limited choice on the main fare.

they do a nice stir fry though.

the indian food is sparse-not much choice at all except, again, on the starters.

the kids were happy with the pizza (again-2 options, veg / non veg) and happy with the ice-cream machine!

theres not much to say on the atmosphere of the place either, its sort of like youre on a conveyer belt, they want you to move along the line, pick your food and go so they can get the next lot in.

if you want to go to a buffet, go to one that specialises in one type of food.

the only reason i could possibly recommend this place is because its a good alternative to Macdonalds for a kids party as they'll like the pizza, chips and ice-cream machine.Adults? dont bother

With the years, the food has altered in standards. The starters are mostly salads, however they have added a new coal grilled chicken tikka counter. The stif fry station is dissapointing, proportions getting cut thinner and extremely salty (MSG), needs improvement in desserts, apart from the ice-cream machine there were only 2 cakes on offer. However, on the plus side they do an early-bird price of 10GBP between 5-7pm every night.

I'd been to Jimmy Spices before with colleagues from work and found it to be ok, so i booked a table to dine with friends for the xmas period. In anticipation of it being busy, i booked well in advance, more than a month if I recall. However, on the night when we arrived we were greeted by a huge queue of disgruntled looking punters in the entrance. When i went to enquire about our booking, i was passed around from waiter to waiter until someone finally spoke to me. It was then, to my astonishment, that I was told that no booking had been made in my name!! Furthermore, they were full with corporate bookings! Hmmmm... It seemed I was not the only one this had happened to; some people had even paid a deposit (which was strongly denied by the staff) only to also be told their bookings hadn't been made or had been cancelled. Absolutely disgraceful, we'd all travelled to Birmingham for a meal at the height of rush hour only to be fobbed off. I'd even left them my phone number, so they could have at least called me to tell me I'd been gazzumped for a more profitable corporate booking. But they didn't even do that. My friends and I certainly won't be going there ever again."
