We visited the restaurant using one of the restaurant's special offer cards which we picked up at the Taste of Birmingham Event. - Basically you get a starter and Main on a (buy one get one free basis). As it happens this was not the case. We were charged full price for the starter which was a platter for 2 people at £9.95 the waiter recommended even though it wasnt our choice.. Also we got charged for an extra bottle of Cobra Beer which we didnt have.

The food was good, and the service was good, but we felt ripped off with the offer card. We hardly had any saving, and in my opinion there was NO offer to be had. i wont be going there again.

Went last night on the "Two main course for £12.95" offer. Meal for two starter, 2 mains and 1 dessert and 2 drinks cost £41???!! Bit bad really, not doing what is advertised. Yeah food is ok but for an expensive Indian restaurant not good enough.

don't get me wrong we eat at nice places and don't mind paying more money for decent food, but this place is not worth it, explains why we were only people in resterant.

Oh yeah £5.70 per pint of beer, great value there!!!!

We visited Lasan on Saturday 12 April. To start, our party of 4 shared a vegetarian and a non-veg Thali. The variety of flavours was outstanding. We followed the Thali with 6 meat and 2 vegeable dishes between us. Again, a fantasic range of flavours from mild to very spicy. Presentation and service were extremely good. This is Indian cooking of a very high standard. It shows great flair and inovation. Such a refreshing change from the average curry house.

A suggestion: Although there is a good wine list, the range of beers is limited to the usual main line lagers. Why not include some of the tastier Belgian bottled beers which are great with spicy food. Strong and full of flavour to compliment the hottest curries.

We had a great evening and will certainly come back again

We visit Lasan every week and have even ditched our local takeaway for this amazing restaurant. The restaurant is contemporary in design with dishes to match. Over the last 6 months I have never had a bad meal and I am now totally hooked. Where a certain Broad Street Restaurant faded away Lasan has picked up and considerably overtook.

My favorite dish is the mans ke shooley, a spicy tender lamb starter, I highly recommend this dish...it's delicious!

Enjoy!

Absolutely wonderful. Everything on the menu tempted so between four of us we had six starters, 5 main courses and 4 puddings. We didn't leave feeling over full and stuffed - nor did we leave feeling hard done by with small portions - it was just perfect. The wine selection was also good and not over priced. We had struggled to get a reservation for Saturday evening but the manager got back to us by 6 to let us know there had been a cancellation and was very attentive from point of arrival.

Favourites...

Lamb Biriyani

The mushroom and pea curry

Dal

Rasmalai

Great experience for first visit to Birmingham - only problem is - we won't want to try anywhere else on our subsequent trips to the city!

Indian food a la carte style. Amazing food that doesn't fill you up leaving you bloated. Great vegetarian option and lovely selection of wines.

One thing Indian restarants fail on are the selection of desserts which are usually pre-frozen items. Lansan amazed us with a wide range of hand made Indian and English desserts. Top marks!

I visited Lasan Restaurant with a group of 6 others. The award of a michelin star is the reason I went to the restaurant but the decor was a huge let down and the flooring was poor.

We waited 30 mins for our food, probably because we asked for the starter to be delivered with the main course but that should have made it faster not longer. As we only went to taste the wuality, we ordered the mixed starter to share between us - which i have to say was incredibly tiny in quantity and lacking in taste.

Even so, we believed perhaps thw two main courses may be ok, however the king prawn dish lay in a bed of brown water and the lamb rogan josh was served in a cereal bowl - is that what michelin quality is meant to be? The rogan josh was merely a basic meat curry, it was not a traditional rosh josh and tasted amateur.

Overall the night was a disaster, i was totally embarassed in front of my guests and the meal of one starter, two main courses, two nans, two rice and 6x coke came to £65.00!!!

What we ordered was less that was a meal for two persons consists of, yet the price was phenonmenal. Overall, a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.

Dining at Lasan is always a pleasure. The food is excellent, with a great choice for both vegetarians and meat-eaters. The atmosphere is great - smart surroundings and a real buzz, even midweek. Service has always been impeccable - efficient, polite and friendly. Yes, it isn't the cheapest restaurant around, but why should it be? It's worth paying a bit more for quality. They also have frequent special offers if you sign up for their email newsletter.

We have eaten in Lasan a few times over the last few years and have always found the food to be very good and had friendly service. It certainly is a bit more expensive than the average but I feel the food is a little better presented and more variety and thought put into the menu and the atmosphere more special.

They sometimes do good special offers, so sign up to their newsletter to get these which make the cost more reasonable, I think we only go when we get an offer that suits.
