Went to the Living Room based on the reviews on Open Table for a graduation dinner, so were hoping for something special. We were not disappointed.

Starters; the king prawns went down a treat and the fondue was fun with a really cheesylichious sauce. The chicken satay skewers were really nicely cooked and flavoursome but the portion seemed a bit paltry in comparison to the other starters.

Mains; the crispy duck pancakes were just what you’d hope for and it was nice to have chunks of duck as opposed to dry stringy bits of duck you get in some places. The fillet steak was delicious and well seasoned of not more medium than the medium-rare ordered, with smooth buttery mash and a flavoursome beefy portobello mushroom. The sea-bass was also well received but the portion size was a little disappointing in comparison to the rest of the meals, more of the accompanying beans would have helped with this. I had the maple salmon which was cooked to my liking being melt in the mouth soft, the accompanying puy lentils and Bombay potatoes were a bit lacking in Bombay spices, however overall the dish was excellent.

Wine; to share we had a bottle of the Argentinean Medoc which was extremely well priced and seemed to go well with everyone’s main courses.

Puddings; the highlight of the puddings ordered was the banoffee in a bag. An absolute treat. I can understand that some people could find it a bit too sweet, but I found the accompanying ice-cream helped to balance the flavours out.

Service; our waitress was really helpful and friendly and put up with our bad jokes all evening, well done!!

Price; our bill came to £150 for 4 including food and drink, so not the cheapest night out however it certainly was good value for money when you take into account the quality of the food and service.

We dined at 7.30pm on Easter Sunday. We were very impressed with the decor, the atmosphere and the service, all the staff were professional and friendly. There was a Salsa night on, which started at about 8.30pm, which we had been forewarned about. I was a bit dubious, but we decided to give it a go as when we arrived it was still very quiet. The music and salsa lessons started while we were about halfway through our main courses, but it didn't bother us too much, and after an initial loud song or two, it quietened down to a lower volume. It certainly added a party atmosphere and it was entertaining to watch! It even made my boyfriend agree to take part in such a night sometime in the future, which was a real bonus!

The food was delicious, we had the mussels and the battered king prawns to start, and I had the shoulder of lamb, my fella had the special haddock with smoked salmon. One warning - the main courses don't come with any vegetables apart from what is mentioned in the menu description. So my shoulder of lamb came with mashed potatoes and gravy only, my fella's fish only with the poached egg, cullen skink and the sauce with finely diced potatoes and onions in it. But it would have been overkill to order any vegetables to be honest, the portions were more than enough, and especially if you are having three courses you really won't need vegetables too. It was all great, we didn't have dessert as we were rather stuffed! I had a £10 money off voucher (off the Living Room's own website), so the bill came to £52 for Bread+oil, 2 starters, 2 main courses and a bottle of wine.

We really enjoyed our evening, and would most certainly go again.
