The Old Crown

Whilst saying three nights at the Old Crown i gained a competant understanding of just how well the establishment is ran. Although my stay was brief, i enjoyed a wonderfull atmosphere and explored the three main departments it has to offer.
The accomadation was great value, concidering the location, it fulfills the average needs of a short stay however an on suite was not available at the time. The food was your typical english pub menu, which was made available at un sociable hours, the home cooked sunday carvery was also most enjoyable.
The pub itself, although busy at times has a warm atmosphere, although could be improved with the introduction of real ales.
Overall i found my stay relaxing and would advise anyone to use the facilities.

We have recently had two Sunday carvery meals on different occassions and on each we were very dis-satisfied with the dinner-service, quality of food and also the £7.00 charge just for the main dinner.
We found the roast meat undercooked and too rubbery to cut with a knife, far less chew.
The roast potatoes were cooked on one side and burned black on the other. However, after complaining about this, a member of staff replaced them.
The mashed potato and turnip were lumpy and not a hint of taste or flavour in either, including the under-done parsnips.
The Old Crown is a very nice historical tavern and the bar staff are polite and friendly,..however, we will not be wasting £7.00 again on their present Sunday carvery.
