I went to Thai Edge last weekend and the food was lovely.

However I'm not entirely sure that they can deal with large groups ie: over 10.

Once we were finally allowed to sit at the table after being at the bar, we were astonished that after 10mins we still hadn't been given a menu.

We asked for a menu from a passing waiter and had to wait another 10 mins for him to get permission to give us one. We were then given a set menu which we had not asked for.

So I got up and asked for the a la carte menu which was then thrown on the middle of the table. We were surprised that the waiters did not hand the menus to us and did not pick up the set menus from the table.

After 20mins we had to ask if they could take our order, which seemed like a chore. (bearing in mind the restaurant was half empty).

The manageress then came over and suggested that we eat from the set menu as this would be easier for the kitchen - we decided against it.

The food arrived in dribs and drabs and the waiters did not have a clue - fair enough we didn't realise that we should've memorised the Thai names of our dishes. :-)

The food was excellent once it all arrived. However, we were never asked if we wanted any wine or soft drinks. Again we had to call a waiter over and asked him if we could see a drinks menu... this arrived 5 mins later.

The menus came but no order was taken.

At the end of the meal we just wanted to get up and go. Unknown to us they had created 2 separate bills. When I got up to query the bill with the manageress as I didn't understand what they had done - she had no time to listen to what I had to say and retorted that her restaurant doesn't make mistakes and I was shooed away.

The price was fine - and thankfully her assistant explained what he had done in regards to the menu.

All in all the food was great but the service was absolutely terrible. We were disgusted!!! And the cocky manageress needs to get some customer service skills. Lesson number one is LISTEN and number two is BE POLITE!

i really enjoyed it here, the restaurant was so clean and the staff were very friendly and polite. we both love thai food and spicy seafood. it was just as i expected, it was fantasic, i took my boyfriend there for his birthday, we had starters main and 2 bottles of rose wine. i like a restuarant were we can talk and take our time and enjoy the food. i felt so relaxed in there and my boyfriend really enjoyed the night.

we have been back a few times now and have never had a problem, the bill came to £90.00 but it was worth every penny.

cant wait for him to take me again...

Ate there tonight on a Corporate away from home dining out allowance. Very impressed with the food and service, though don't eat the big brown things in the soup - they are extremely hot chillis and it took me ten minutes to cool my mouth down... The main was superb, excellent beef, lots of nice clean flavours. One of the best Thai meals I've ever had. Wouldn't like to pay for it myself, mind; £10.80 for a main course seems par for the course with Thai, but it's at least three quid dearer than Italian / Indian / Chinese, though not as pricey as the Japanese I had the previous night.

I took my fiancee (now wife to the restaurant to propose!) She loves thai foood and had always wanted to go this resaurant.

I ordered the table and told them my intentions. We were sat in a corner which was fine but then we were invaded by a table being inserted right next to us.

It felt like a canteen and the food was nothing like the thai we were used to. There were no delicate flavours. Just a load of tasteless stodge!

I would not waste my money here again.

I was brought to Thai Edge by my boyfriend for my birthday a month ago as he knows how fond I am of Thai food. The whole experience there was totally unpleasant, the food was below average and the staff were so rude and clearly had not been trained in customer care.

Firstly, once we were shown to our seat, it took a good 10 minutes before the waitress came over to ask us if we wanted a drink, when she did so, she was very brash and barely said more than a grunt to us, when she was gone we werent even sure if she had taken note of what we wanted.

My boyfriends main course, a chicken dish was fleshy and pink in the middle and clearly undercooked. When he notified the waiter of this she said "okay" and took the plate away, no apology was made. We then got a message from the kitchen that the cheif had said that chicken is meant to be pink!! My boyfriend was then asked if he would like something else, to which he declined, not then wanting to risk any further uncooked meat. I sat there and ate my very average prawn dish.

When the bill came, they had charged us for two beers which we never had. We politely told the waitress about the error, to which she said nothing, again no apology, just a grunt!! Afterwards, we went to talk to the manager to complain about the poor food and the bad service, he agreed that he thought the chicken had been undercooked and although took the price of that meal off the final bill, offered no apology.

We ended up going across the street to a gorgeous French restaurant (le petit blanc) after this inadequate meal at Thai Edge, where my then starving boyfriend got a great meal with fantastic service.

This is the first review I have ever written on a restaurant, but I just felt I had to!

All in all my dining experience at Thai Edge was most unpleasant with average food and below average manners from the staff. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I eat Thai at least once a week and have eaten in hundreds of Thai Restaurants all over the world (I'm a little obsessed).

The menu was Thai, the name was Thai, but it didn't feel like any Thai Restaurant I've ever been in. The food was at best, as good as a supermarket ready meal. It did not have the fresh tastes that Thai is so famous for.

I went on a one day Thai cookery course in Thailand last year, and my red curry tastes 10 times better and more authentic than what I had here.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, but poor quality food and very overpriced.

Nice looking restaurant, food was pretty good, if a tad pricey. Staff were very courteous but were clearly quite new to England- communicating with them was distinctly tricky, and resulted in them misunderstanding my order- my partner ended up with 2 main courses and my rice didn't show up, and they didn't seem too impressed when we raised the problem. The head waitress/manager eventually came over as she was the only one who could understand our problem, and she came close to starting an argument with us about it, which would have seen us get up and leave.

Everything was eventually smoothed out, but won't be going there again. The moment the ordering process goes beyond pointing at the thing you want on the menu (eg asking what a certain dish is, how spicy etc), it all falls down due to language problems...

Surprised to see some of the revews on here are so positive. Thai Edge is not a bad restaurant at all but I have now eaten there on a few occasions and the food is decidedly average and the authenticity? Well I guess if you mean authentically a thai style restaurant in england owned by an indian. As I say, not bad but by no means great.

A pretty, elegant place that offers an impressive range of authentic Thai dishes. A warning for the uninitiated; the recipes served here really are hot hot HOT! We happened to stumble across the restaurant on the night of its anniversary, so were treated to complementary sparkling wine. Normally the prices are not particularly cheap. And the waiting staff, although polite and efficient, don't really encourage you to spend the whole evening dawdling over your meal. Worth a look-in, though.

Last Saturday I had the misfortune of spending my birthday at Thai Edge in Birmingham. After having heard a number of good reviews on it I was hoping for a birthday meal which was going to be fairly special. I was grossly mistaken.

As I phoned to confirm my reservation early in the day I was initially told that instead of the 8 people that I had booked for, the lady I spoke with informed me that the table had been reserved for only 2 people. Fortunately they managed to sort out the problem.

We got there and the place looked to be of a very high standard.

Unfortunately, the service could not be said to be the same. The head waitress was obstructive and unhelpful. We got a lecture on how it would be much easier for them to cook for us if we selected the fixed menus and how it was very important that we leave before the next seating.

One of the main course dishes we asked for was missed out (and later on appeared on the bill), the vegetarian dishes (from their vegetarian menu) contained shrimp and needed to be sent back.

But the best part of the whole night was when we asked the head waitress to take a photo. She said she was too busy and perhaps later she may find the time. Further to this when we asked one of the other waitresses to take a photo then she was soon selected by the head waitress to some other part of the restaurant! I was beginning to feel fairly victimised by this point.

The food, all in all, was fairly good. Being a big fan of Thai food I was impressed. However the service had spoilt the evening by now.

By the time the bill arrived we were only too happy to pay and leave, although it was with with a rather sour taste left by service of the standard that can only be equalled by that in a fast food restaurant.

And the price for this 'never-to-be-repeated' experience - 24 pounds a head.
