The restaurant has a great and beautiful atmosphere. One is always greated with a smile by the attentive staff. The food is very different compared to the main stream indian cuisine, as they do use very minimal oil in all their cuisine.i should really complement the chef...it has been my favourate indian restaurant right in the heart of coventry .I also take would like to congratulate the managment in opening another branch in Meriden.. which i will pop over very shortly.

Cramped restaurant...a bad experience...average food...poor service...ill mannered waiters...and manager!...a rip off. I hated it and will never go back.

Over priced and well over rated. The quality of the food is ok. Nothing to write home about.

The restaurant feels cramped and service is average. There isn't anything in particular that was done badly, but I expected alot more after reading the previous reviews.

I wouldn't visit again unless every other Indian in town was closed.

An excellent experience. Unlike other Indian restaurants the place has its own unique rooms and food is fantastic. The manager only serves customers who are out to enjoy them self’s, great if you don't want to be surrounded by trouble makers

Four of us turned up there Friday without a booking and had one of the best Indian meals we have ever had. The service was excellent, waiters very knowledgeable and polite, and, although a bit overpriced (£30 a head including 2 beers each), we were quite greedy!

Based on our experience, I would not hesitate to recommend it.

My friend and i had tried out many restaurants in Coventry and wanted to try something different. A friend recommended Tumeric Gold. We were told that they serve Indian and and Thai dishes, which is cooked with very little oil. We were also told that they had Maharajah Tents, which sounded quite romantic.

We made a booking to avoid disappointment for 8.30pm on a Saturday night. We arrived at 8.20pm. The restaurant was quite busy and we were hoping we wouldn't have to wait long because we were starving.

We were welcomed by the manager who took us upstairs to the Maharajah Tent and made sure we were seated comfortably. He took our drinks order and asked if we would like some poppadoms while we decided what to order.

FIRST IMPRESSION:

The atmosphere was warm and inviting as were the staff. I was fascinated by the decor, the setting was beautiful. I thought it was unique and i had never seen anything like it. Sitting in the Maharajah Tent made us feel extra special.

While munching on the poppadoms and drinking my favourite drink, Mango Lassi i decided to order Chicken Masledar, (a flavoured dish with chicken drumsticks, tomatoes and cardamoms), naan and rice. My friend ordered something less spicy, Dakeswary, (a chicken dish with a creamy sauce), rice and a bottle of Cobra.

TALENTED:

The waiter came carrying the food with such care on his arms. The food was sizzling and the aroma was mouthwatering. I couldn't resist any longer. Yummy, it was delicious! I enjoyed it so much i wanted more. My friend also enjoyed her meal too. We were glad we came.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE:

The restaurant was decorated nicely and made a more up market Indian restaurant experience.

The staff were attentive and our glasses were regularly topped up.

The food itself was tasty with a decent range and the way it was served made us feel special.

FORGET THE EXPENSE. IF YOU WANT GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE THEN THIS IS THE PLACE!

WE WOULD DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN TO TRY OTHER DISHES!

we found this delightful restaurant in coventrys medieval quarter and was surprised with the qaulity standard of service at the same time we were amazed how the food was served to the table , it was pure skill a waiter carrying food for five on his arms ,genuis what skill they must pick up when their running up and down the stairs with food, not on trays . a great show .

at the same time we can honestly say it was the least oil food we have ever tasted before. great taste ! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

the decor of the place, we thought was very orignal and very eccentric with vibrant colors of the east with a suttle touch of west in this gorgeous medieval building ,dont just take my word for it visit the place or have a LOok on there website

At the same time must say it realy is a great place and the staff show enough passion for what they do . we asked the manger about some of the comments , he replied to us that" every one are entitled to there own opinion , but like any buisness there are certian customers that how ever much you try its never enough , and some people look at restaurant staff in manner as if they were third class people, at and our reputation is based on serving great food to great people ,at same time turmeric gold has a no nonesense policy . this is the reason we dont have door staff."

hey we had a great time and must say we will be back.

thanks guys............................

shilpa papadommm yummi

Well what a wonderful restaurant , as we had booked a table the week before , as many of our friends had told us to avoid disappointment . Any way when we got there we quite surprised how big the restaurant was but at the same time so cosy but warm ,we seated upstairs and handed the menu and small apertif of mango lassi ,it was very nice ,there was al lot of dishes we were not familiar with so we decided to ask the waiter for some recommendation , he was quite help full,he asked us what type of dishes we were custom to , for eg i enjoy madras chicken the waiter suggested a chicken rawalpindi my partner enjoys balti so we had one too with some nans and rice , we found the service exceptional and the food the most healthest we had in any indian restaurant . not your average restaurant .great recommendation know wonder it was one of the top restaurants in uk by , b.c.a ,

Astonishing as this story may sound (seems like it’s picked up from a family sitcom) please read CAREFULLY...I would HATE such things to happen to others.

We had travelled to Coventry from London to meet an old friend of ours who lives in Coventry. After an excellent day together, we (a group of 4) decided to have a delightful dinner to put the last icing on the cake for the day. My friend (the Coventry resident) recommended the TURMERIC GOLD restaurant as it features in Coventry newspapers a lot. We decided to go for it. IT WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE...

We didn’t have a reservation and were asked to wait on a dingy corner beneath the stairs for over 30 mins (we were not informed that it will be such a long wait). We were not asked for any drinks that we could order while waiting and had to sit like fools looking at each other.

Finally we were put into a table. The waiter took our drinks order and then asked if we wanted some popudums. We said 'NO, thank you'...He replyed back RUDELY 'DO YOU WANT SOME POPUDUMS'...we were stunned at the RUDENESS and still said 'no' thinking that he may not have heard it first time.

Event continues...

We had asked for 'Tap' water when we had arrived along with our drinks...the waited said ok...however even after we had finished our starters the water had not served us water (its was over 30 more minutes...and we had asked for the water for atleast 3 more times)...at last the waiter (when asked for the 4th time) said very rudely 'There are people standing in front of the ground floor bar and hence HE CAANNOT GET US WATER' and left...

Later we were told by the manager EQUALLY RUDELY that they don’t serve tap water and that we CANNOT share FOOD…

3rd incident....

Whilst ordering our main food we decided to order some popudums...however they never arrived...in spite the main course order taking 1 hr to come. However the popudums strangely showed up in our final bill. We informed the waiter that we were not served the popurdums and hence he should remove it from the bill...He said ok and gave us a bill which STILL had the popudums in them. We decided to go downstairs and clarify the matter in the till...The Manager was there and when I mentioned this incident THE MANAGER SAID THAT HE THOUGHT WE WERE RUDE...AND THERE IS A COMMUNICATION MISTAKE...AND THAT WE SHOULD NOT GET HIM STARTED....AND POINTED AT ME AND MY FRIENDS SAYING IT WAS OUR FAULT....

Grand finale...

THE MANAGER didn’t listen to any of our objections and when we decided to be civil and leave the situation he OPENED THE DOOR AND SAID 'PLEASE LEAVE'......

---------------------

amoung the four friends (2 indians and 2 british) we have travelled widely in india, US, Europe and Asia...NEVER in our experience have we come across such a INSULTING and HORRIBLE RESTAURANT STAFF....

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND PEOPLE NOT TO GO TO SUCH A HORRIBLE RESTAURANT...

BELIEVE ME GUYS there are loads of much better Indian restaurants in UK such as the Tamarind, Imly, Veeraswamy, Masala Zone, etc...

Believe me this is NOT AN INDIAN RESTAURANT...and INDIAN RESTAURANT EXCELS in two things:

1) EXCELLENT SERVICE

2) HIGH QUALITY FOOD...

This gives you NEITHER
