The Bell and Cross

We visited The Bell and Cross after coming up from our home in London to visit friends. We weren't sure when we would be arriving and the restaurant very obligingly kept our reservation with an hours leeway. There were 3 adults and 3 teenagers in our party. We found the menu to be very varied and we all found our meal to be excellent in portion size and taste in fact our local friends pronounced the meal to be the best they had ever had. We visited on the Thursday night before Easter and the place was really busy. This did not affect the service but we were put in a small side room with another party of 5 and an elderly couple who tisked and tutted and seemed to object to being with 2 groups. Perhaps they should have taken this up with the management rather than trying to make us feel uncomfortable. Other than that the meal was fantastic. Three courses for the adults, two for the children, a bottle of wine and soft drinks £150. Great value too, or maybe we're just used to London prices!

dined with friends who had eaten here previously. Really enjoyed our evening.
Not much choice from the menu but we all really enjoyed what we had. The chocolate fudge brownie was to die for. Our bill came to £163.00 and that was for 5 of us. Three course meal each and drinks.
