Agree with all the positive comments. The restaurant under new management is a great improvement on Da Marco in its last years. Very good food, friendly service, and the 3-course meal for £13.95 offers a good choice of options and is good value.

This place is a hidden treasure. It's exactly like the small family run restaurants you find outside the big cities in Italy - no doubt because it is family owned and the Dad/Chef is italian! The cooking is not flashy but is delicious and everything is genuinely home cooked so that delicate flavours emerge. The service was charming, in an old fashioned way. The house wine was very good and there was a good list too if you wanted to spash out a bit. We'll be going back.

Following our fifth visiit to this retaurant i feel we are now sufficiently informed to post and accurate review.

We love it, the food is proper simple home cooked italian fare, the management and chef are traditional italians with personalities as big as the flavours.

The menu is small but provides a great selection with superb fish dishes all cooked to perfection.

The desert must try is the strawberries flambee'd in port with a healthy dollop of italian ice cream.

Then finish off with a glass of Limonchello all the way from the Amalfi coast.

Its not the cheapest or trendiest italian in Birmingham but it can certainly hold its own in terms of food quality and friendliness of service. Giovanni the chef will always pop out of the kitchen for a chat with the customers and just to make sure that your night is going well. If its not just tell him and he'll do everything he can to make sure you leave happy and contented.

A definate must try for a romanic meal for two or a family meal.

we'll be back soon!

Since the last reviews here, this place has undergone a major facelift. Now known as "Bistro Italiano", the restaurant sports new interior and a new menu that is a welcome improvement to the struggling Da Marco. On arriving, the staff where willing to take coats and fetch drinks speadily, making us all feel at comfortable in the surroundings and expecting a good night. When we sat down, we where given a complimentary bread basket with warm and fresh breads. We ordered starters and main courses, with the waiter explaining all of the specials and dishes in detail to answer any queries. The starters arrived hot, fresh and on time and tasted delicious! The mains followed and again, did not disappont, the fish dishes in particular are very good indeed. When we had finished, we where not rushed out and remained feeliing welcome until we left some 90 minutes later, overall a very enjoyable evening and highly recommended.

Service was very friendly.

Food was average.

Eveing runied by Chef squeezinf past table throughout the evening to go and place bets in the bookmakers (Next door)!

What this means on a hygiene basis, I don't know!
