Having seen the excellent reviews of the Hall Green Tandoori on birmingham-eating.com, I decided to test it out with some friends this evening. At first, I was sceptical about its top place in the "top ten overall" of Birmingham's restaurants, but having been there tonight, I was impressed.

This restaurant is now called the Spice Empire. It is smart and modern and has an wide choice of dishes. The service is polite and efficient and the food is artistically presented. We especially enjoyed the starters, but the whole meal was delicious.

Overall, this is a very good curry house, deserving of the praise by other reviewers. I'm not sure whether it's the best restaurant in Birmingham, but its certainly worth a visit.

My fiancee and I had a wonderful time at Spice Empire for our romantic evening out. The tents are an absolute delight and the food is fit for a king. Thank you Spice Empire, we will be back again.

28 Years I've lived in Hall Green, and I recently went to Hall Green Tandoori after a few beers. Why deny that fact? That's what a lot of people do anyhow.

But I couldn't really fault the restaurant. The service was excellent, and the staff friendly and polite. The food was hot, spicy and above all absolutely delicious. A huge menu with lots to choose from including the typical Balti's and Tikka's along with many other interesting dishes and sides. I fear however the menu is lacking in description for the amateur curry taster, so do your research first.

I couldn't taste any garlic on the garlic Naan, though I was assured the a garlic odour was present.

I hope to go again sometime soon, and that is the highest compliment I can pay to a restaurant.
