Friday, June 05, 2009 - Almost all of central Birmingham looks just built to me, pre-crunch, swanky, but a bit sudden: Brindleyplace is exactly this, so I was not expecting the Edmunds interior, which is soft, muted, unflashy, subtly luxurious… My starter of salmon with oyster beignet, Cornish crab and avocado only reinforced the impression of tremendous effort and care. The avocado had been puréed and scraped across the plate like the plaster finish on a fancy ceiling. The salmon hovered between raw and cured, very yielding but still translucent – totally delicious.

Great food ruined by terrible service. The rude french waiter was surpassed by the staff piling our coats on a nearby chair during our coffees. I dont expect to be chased out of a restaraunt at lunchtime before I have finished.

A real shame Andy's food was excellent but please do something about the service

We ate at Edmunds on Saturday night, we had a wonderful experience from the time we entered the restaurant, all the staff were extremely refreshing and attentive and the food was so delicious, my husband had the Balantine Rabbit for starters and I had the Risotto of wild mushrooms, both great and very tasty. For the main meals we had Tournedo of Aberdeen Angus and slow cooked Wiltshire belly of pork they were both out of this world! The beef just melted in the mouth – Excellent! We had a good bottle of red wine and finished with cheese and biscuits and a glass of port. We were never rushed and did not have to wait for anything. We would defiantly recommend this restaurant and when we go to Birmingham again we will eat there, but next time we might try the Taster Menu and defiantly value for money. Then at the end we were lucky enough to meet Andy Waters the chief, so all in all a fantastic night.
