Just returned home from an evening at the Fleur De Lys. Lovely venue, good beers but the food, especially the famous pies we came for were far from the delight expected. Dry, overpriced and a real dissapointment.

Such a shame as this place could be fantastic if it delivered what it appears to promise. Sadly it doesn't and is in fact a long way from being recommendable.

Will visit again for drink on a warm summers day perhaps, but will give the food a miss.

How can you fault the venue - beautiful. Roll on long hot summer evenings. Great surroundings with great food - always worth a repeat visit.

still love this pub, i am more of a drinker than an eater when i go out, and i cannot fault the fleur de lys. the setting is amazing, the beer is always crystal clear, and my wife enjoyed a nice glass of pimms when we were there at the weekend, and she said it was spot on. cheers to another great summer of drinking at the fleur de lys.

I had never been to the Fleur de Lys before, but visited on Bank Holiday Monday with 3 of my friends, and I couldn't disagree more with what the previous comment says.

The weather was glorious and it brought the punters out to it's beautiful surroundings in droves. As such, the pub was extremely busy, but it took hardly any time at all for us to get served, and we enjoyed (perfectly fizzy) drinks by the canal before heading inside to eat.

Initially, I was confused by the fact that they didn't serve food over on the canal side of the garden, only on the patio area or inside, but when I enquired the extremely helpful and polite landlord explained that due to the amount of extra tables that would include, the kitchen and waiting staff simply couldn't logistically cope, and everyone would suffer as a result.

So, instead we came inside, to much comfier seating might I add, and waited no more than around half an hour for our meals to arrive. Having been warned that there was a wait of around an hour when I ordered the food, I didn't mind waiting and we enjoyed the surroundings as we did so, before the food came out sooner than we had expected.

The food was of much higher standard than your usual 'pub grub', but no more expensive. I expected, having visited some of the other similar pubs in the local area, to have to pay much more.

The service was excellent, and while the staff were clearly very busy they were working hard and were polite and helpful in their manners. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely return. The great atmosphere and sunny weather made it a wonderful place to while away the sunny bank holiday, though from looking around the pub I imagine it's just as nice in the winter with the open wood fires and cosy interior.

it is a shame that people feel they have to lie about different venues in order to put them down, i was actually at the fleur de lys on the wednesday night that alan sears talks about, and there was no wait on food and everyone i saw come into the building was served. so this previous reviewer clearly wasn't even there. i don't know whether this is someone from a rival operator (probably less successful) trying to put this pub down, but i would suggest whoever it is tries to find something better to do with their time than slagging off other peoples businesses when they clearly haven't even been and are quite simply making things up.

i would say that the fleur de lys trade speaks for itself. it wouldn't attract the flocks of people that it does if it was poor. the only problem here, is that there aren't more pubs like this that aren't trying to be restaurants, but simply serving good food and drinks at affordable prices.

I visit this area regularly with friends and family.

I went here on bank holiday monday for late lunch with my family . The landlord Mr grumpy told us there would be an hour and a half wait for food. No appology just facts. We had drinks which included white wine and soda. Soda was flat. We also had white wine and lemonade. Lemonade was flat.

Unfortunately I went back to Fleur with 8 pals on wednesday evening. We were Informed again by Mr grumpy .... no food as party booked in.

It was at least an hour until the party sat down for food.

My family and friends wont be going back in a hurry !!

Another venue will take our money and may even be grateful.

Was at the fleur de lys on saturday 26th april, when we had our first glimpse of summer.

was really nice to see that they are keeping up the standard at the fleur de lys. the garden was fully decked out in pimm's parephernalia which looked stunning under the gorgeous sun. and it had certainly attracted the crowds, the place was heaving, we didn't eat, but just had some drinks by the canal. the atmosphere of the place was superb. the staff were all helpful and friendly even though they were clearly rushed, and as usual all the drinks were top quality. we had a most enjoyable afternoon, and by the looks of peoples faces around us, so did everyone else. genuinely can't think of a better way to spend a summers day.

Went to the fleur de lys for sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago, and most certainly go again. we ordered 2 beef and 1 lamb shank, which was served to the table in just under 10 minutes, and was of an excellent standard. the staff were

friendly without being over the top, and the price was very reasonable. an all round enjoyavble meal.

have eaten here quite a few times in the new year after being recommended to this pub by a friend who ate here over christmas. my firends were absolutely right. this pub is lovely, the food was lovely, as was the beer and service.

i would never have eaten here normally because i know it used to have a bad reputation when under previous management. but i will definitely go back. it was a most enjoyable experience.
