The Black Boy

I went with my wife and sister-in-law to the Black Boy tonight and we dined simply on 'fish and chips' as we don't often have this at home. Suberb! The fish was fresh and beutifully cooked and cam with a fresh salad, gorgeous chips and a great curry sauch I ordered as a side. Needless to say, it was all scoffed and enjoyed! The service was worth waiting for as the food came really freshly cooked and great looking, with a curry sauce I ordered as a side. Drinks were very reasonable (especially the house wine) and the beer choice was excellent. Service was friendly and 'talkative' making us feel at home.

I visited this establishment on Saturday with my soon to be wife. We had a starter (Chicken Tikka), Main Course (16oz Rump steak + Pepper sauce) and a desert (Chocolate fudge cake). I must say this was probably the best pub meal I have ever eaten and that’s saying a lot. The starter was delicious, the steak, chips and sides were both tasty and well cooked. I was very very impressed and will most definitely be going again very soon. Congratulations on a fantastic meal, with well mannered, polite staff. You can expect my custom for some time to come.

we hadnt been to the blackboy for over 2 years as last time we went were not impressed, so sunday jan 14 we tried again. We were pleased to see it was now non smoking and thats about all we were pleased with. I made the mistake of ordering a 12oz rump steak of which over half i left much of which i had to spit out as it was soo fatty and gristly and tasteless despite covering it with a "curry sauce". When the "waitress" came to collect our plates she never even asked if our meal was alright, so i told her it was the worse peice of steak i had ever been served and that i wouldnt have given it to my dog,she made no comment .She returned later with a grin on her face and repeated parrot fashion what she had been told "the chef said in future you dont like your meal send it back and he will cook you a fresh one" That it seems is the full extent of their customer care. So needless to say we will NEVER be returning

We have been going there for a few years and although we know the staff, we are always made to feel special every-time that we visit. We call it ou local even though it is about 15 miles away from our home. 100% always.
