My wife and myself visited Loch Fyne in Knowle on Saturday 15th December 2007 having visited previously and enjoyed very good food. However on this occasion we were sadly dissappointed. The staff were very welcoming and the ambiance pleasant but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the smoked haddock chowder. I watched the chef ladel a base sauce from a pot on the side and crumble a few pieces of haddock into it. This was then warmed in a pan and served to me. It was lukewarm and although the pieces of haddock were tasty none of the flavour had merged into the very bland sauce. My wife ordered the ham hock terrine with onion chutney which was tasteless and the chutney like a lump of resin that she was unable to cut. For main course I had the king prawn provencale which was very tasty but my wifes baked whole seabass was overcooked to the point that she could not separate the meat from the bones. We noticed a chef having the same difficulty when attempting to fillet a cooked bass for another customer.

The Chilean Cardonnay was delicious and the prices very reasonable had the standard of food been better. The maitre D did take notice of our complaint and deducted six pounds from the overall bill whilst bringing the complaints to the attention of the head chef.

Much the same as previous reviewer. I had driven past several times and thought it looked good and had experienced Loch Fyne before but was sorely disappointed. Quite rude staff. Not much atmosphere and strangely insipid seafood. Menu looks good but chef doesnt quite deliver.

Pleace needed a good clean - especially the toilets!

We had a long journey from Birmingham to try out the famous sea food. Friends had said it was good, but we were very dissapointed. There is a problem with the front door letting an icy gale blow through the room every few minutes, don't sit near the door! Bookings seem to be in two sittings, early and late, not very convenient. The smoked salmon special was very ordinary, the langustines unrecognisable as if they were out of an 'Iceland' packet and the mains un-memorable. The staff were ok and the room fine, but at those prices we won't be returning.
