Pastiche Bistro (Lichfield)

We had a terible experience here just after fathers day 2008. We were in a party of 3.
Two of us had a soup starter which arrived barely luke warm. For the main course, my father had a tuna steak, this contained a mouthful of very large scales which he nearly choked on. We told the waitress who replied 'i'll tell him' (no apology). When we spoke to the head waiter later before paying, he knew nothing of this and explained that the fish gets prepared by the fishmonger and it wasn't their fault (again, no apoplogy and no alteration of the bill of offer of even a free coffee). I can't understand why they would not check the food they send out, I didn't accept this as a valid excuse....if they received rotten food and sent that out, surely they couldn't use that excuse.
Besides this, they have this offer on of several courses for a set amount of money, nearly all the dishes seem to have supplemental charges and you have to order bread and veg at extra cost, making the meal very expensive for what you get.
The dessert we wanted which was at no extra supplemenary cost had sold out, and so we ordered a cheesecake which was absoultely disgusting, with a rubbery tasteless consitency.
The main problem with our vist was the lack of apology for the tuna incident.
I will in no way be returning here. This is a shame as when it opened, we had frequented it several times and had some great meals.

Always a lovely selection of food. I have never seen a miserable staff member even when stretched to the limit! Food is always delicious and well served. The quirkiness of the building adds to a lovely atmosphere. You really cant find a nicer place in Lichfield and so affordable.

A really good value for money resaurant with some character, gets booked up at weekends but is great for lunch or dinner during the week. Staff are kept busy, however they are always pleasant. Food is creative and good quality, set meals are a bargin
