The Poachers Pocket
your comments review this restaurant
Don´t listen to the review below. The Poacher´s is a fine eating establishment. I have recently been travelling in the US and by chance met other fans of the gourmet cuisine and unpretensious atmosphere you can expect there. It did not surprise me that its quality had carried by word of mouth across the Atlantic.
As a discerning diner, with the fortune to eat in some of the world´s finest restaurants I can say with confidence that the "Loaded Potato Skins", smothered in Monterey Jack are a true delight.
The ball pool is great fun for the kids and the jonny machine vends curry flavour. What more could you ask for on a night out?
Be warned though that every pub in the Midlands has been recently renamed as the Poacher´s Pocket and therefore if meeting friends make sure you identify with precision which one you want to meet at. I had a friend in the recovery game who once suffered from his naivety of leisure industry rebrands.

I have eaten here 4 times. Each time the food has been mediocre and usually bordering on cold. Its microwaveable, boil in the bag, tinned, processed rubbish, (if your lucky its dressed up to look pretty), that you would expect to find for a fraction of the price elsewhere. The service was nothing special, a distinct lack of smiling faces and 'can I help you's' - more grunting, pointing, half arsed staff who are much to engaged with talking to each other and clockwatching than actually serving customers. There are continual ques at the bar and food counters, not because they dont have enough staff milling around, but because the rest dissapear when it involves serving someone! If you love kids and you want to eat your meal surrounded by dozens of them - then this is the place to bring yours! If your not keen on other peoples kids running past knocking over your drinks, playing hide and seek under your table while your eating and occasional screeches of mums and dads swearing at their child trying to entice it back to the ball pit - then please dont bother! The facilities for kids are great but the ball pit has height restrictions so older children can feel very left out. All in all wether you have children or not, this place can come out quite pricey when you've added the cost of the starters, meals, dessert and drinks. And believe me - with service this slow you will deffinatley need starters! On one particular occasion I was forced to wait over an hour for my main course! Good luck!
