this is a restaurant That I have been visiting with the family for some years now. We tend to use it for special occasions and have never been disappointed. The hospitality is excellent and the food first class

I have been going to this restaurant for about 15 years and don't think I've ever had a bad meal. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed and the staff are so laid back and friendly that you just don't want to leave. (Even though ownership has recently transferred, the place is as good as it ever was, as most of the same staff are there). As for the food - well, I just can't fault it. Sunday lunchtime is a real bargain. The price of a 4-course meal (starter, main, sweet, coffee) is based on the price of the main course. Typically, this might be wild duck in orange sauce, roast joint of the day, chicken in mushroom sauce, calves liver, oxtail stew (wonderful), fillet steak with pepper sauce (and the price for the 4 courses would vary from about £16 to about £22). The starters are just to die for as well. The menu changes every Sunday. Just work all that out and you will realise how you are paying through the nose at your local pub when you add up the price of your starter, main course, sweet and coffee.

As for the a la carte menu which is available the rest of the week, there are many typical Italian dishes. My favourite meal there is scallops done in a brandy sauce and served with rice and spinach. The menu offers a large selection of beautiful fish dishes, pastas, steaks, you name it. However, you could order any variation of anything on the menu and the chef will always be pleased to do it for you. The servings are very generous and the veg is always freshly prepared and varied. You just pay for a "selection" of vegetables, and that is what you get - not one of these new places where you end up paying a fiver for each bit of veg you have. All in all, a very pleasurable experience.
