eat here with my wife on a wed night.

The food is excellent. Fresh and different Indian food. The service was OK but at time the staff weren't on the ball and seem to be standing around alot rather than seeing to our needs. But in general OK, though it was a quite Wed night might be a problem on a busy Sat night.

The only poor thing was the state of the gent loo. I wont put you off your food but it was pretty bad. Obviously no one had checked them all night. very poor!

In summary

Food - excellent

Service - OK

Loo's - Poor

worth it for the food though

My wife and I have been regular customers of the Rajnagar for nearly twenty years, and only once has the food been less than perfect - and on that occasion, the fault lay with my choice of a particularly hot dish, not the chef.

Despite good previous experiences at this restaurant, our party of eight was severely let down by Rajnagar on a quiet Sunday evening in December. Mistakes were made with every course. Four of the main dishes were served cold (literally) and the staff then served the same food again after re-heating - completely unacceptable! Once corrected, the food itself was fine, though one of the sweets was served with over-ripe fruit and squirty cream. Not really what you'd expect at this price level and the re-heating incident raises concerns over hygiene practices. The serving staff were forgetful, rude and even tried to blame us for the dishes being cold. Escalation to the manager and then the owner resulted in nothing more than a minor apology with no recompense or incentive to return. No attempt was made at taking control of the situation with the blame being put on 'the new staff'. The lingering impression of Rajnagar is of an upmarket restaurant with relatively high prices, but appalling service. We really have never experienced anything this bad in our years of dining out and so this place is definitely NOT recommended.
