The Place 2B

Thai at The Place2B in Sutton Coldfield is excellent. I can't believe it's the only thai restuarant in the area. I saw it in our local paper which prompted me to pay it a visit. My partner is quite a fussy eater so I have to be careful where I take her to eat. But I have to say, this restuarant is simply great. The food was the best thai food I've tasted and we've been to Thailand! The decor was smart, clean and comfortable, the service was good although the waistress behind the bar could do with a smile. I'd rate this venue 10 out of 10, keep it up, I'll be back.

My husband and friends visited Thai @ The Place 2B last week and we all had a superb meal. I love Thai food and eat out quiet regularly, never have I tasted thai food like here, it was fantastic. We could see the chefs cooking our food from where we were sat in the restaurant so that gave my friend confidence in what we were getting. I had Chickent Satay to start follwed by the duck, I couldn't eat anything else after that I was full, the portions are perhaps too much but that's not a complaint as my husband finished off for me. We'll be going back very soon

A friend and I went in the Place 2b a couple of timesover the Easter brea. Unfortunately on each occasion there were only about 6 people in (including ourselves) and needless to say there seemed very little atmosphere.
I understandit has only recently re-opened as a Thai restaurant although the lounge/bar still remains the same from what I am told.
The whole place, whilst being very new and clean did completely lack atmosphere and no-one came in to eat at all - perhaps the prices are too high or the type of food not that popular. We only went in for drinks and as I was driving I wanted a non-alcholic drink, unfortunately they had run out of diet coke and J2O's so I ended up with cranberry juice on both occasions. I think it will be a long time before we venture back insie.

Went in a couple of times for a drink with a friend over the Easter Bank Holiday and unfortunately there were only about 6 people in (including ourselves) on both occasions.
They had run out of diet coke and J2O's so I ended up with cranberry juice, they do not sell any form of snacks and I found the whole place a little "clinical". Maybe it is because it has only just opened as a Thai Restaurant and although very clean it seems completely devoid of atmosphere.

I like this place. I've been enjoying drinking there with my pals since it opened three years ago. Jessica (the owner) is lovely and the staff are very friendly and chatty, it's like being out with mates everytime I go in there. I have seen this place build up over the years and fair play, all their hard work seems to be paying off, my advice? Pay a visit and if you see me in there, mine's a large one!

The Place 2B in Sutton Coldfield is superb. I have only just started going there although I have lived in the area for some time. Its comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxing. My girlfriends and I like to go out like many young ladies, however, there aren't many places in Birmingham where young women can go and not be hassled by the corny chat up lines from drunken men. The staff are welcoming and the service is good, although I have only eaten there once the food was reasonably priced and very tasty. I liked that you could see your food being cooked from where we were sat in the restaurant. I hear the place turns into a night club at weekends and I plan to pay a visit then rather than go into the city centre and get hassle. A big thumbs up to The Place 2B.

A group of friends and I have visitted The Place 2B in Sutton Coldfield on a number of occassions during the last few months and I have to say all of us have had a truly fabulous time. We often like to eat out and there are few places (if any) in Birmingham like this one. The food is fresh and you can see the chefs preparing it from the restuarant. The choice is superb and the service is excellent. I have read other reviews below and you have to question whether these people have been to the same place! Christmas was a great time there and New year's Elvis party was the best I've ever been to. I shared the restuarant with other like-minded diners who were all havig a great time. At 35 years old there a few places that aren't full of kids who want to just spill their beer all over the place and have a fight. The Place 2B is a great venue and I fully recommend a visit. Well done.

On several occassions i have gone to The place 2B ,on each visit have been told one of my friends dont meet the dress code by the door men ie trainers. So on every other visit have made sure every one has dressed smartly, only to be told we are to casual. When i have managed to get in there loads of people are in t shirts, and my friends were alot smarter than that.

16 of us went to this restaurant for our christmas meal. We were very disappointed that there were no christmas decorations on the table and very few in the restaurant. The decor looked like it needed an overhaul, dirty carpets etc. The food was very mediocore, small portions, badly cooked and not very warm.We thought it offered very bad value for money and we could have spent our £24.00 per head better in many other local places. After being served cold coffee we asked to see the manager. She did apologise but did not even offer us HOT coffee as compensation. Will certainly not go there again or recommend to anybody else.

I visited today lunchtime using the "Daily Telegraph" Wine & Dine for £10 with Rioja Wines vouchers.
The service was excellent and we were given very generous glasses of Rioja. As you would expect, the £10 menu was not the full menu but the choices on offer were varied and would suit most people.
The food was well cooked and presented and represented good value for money.
The only down side was that being a Tuesday, November lunch time, it was very quiet and therefore lacked atmosphere.
All in all we had a very good time and if the "Daily Telegraph" promotes this venue again we would most likely go back.
