I visited The Place 2B on Friday 20th October for what I thought would be quiet meal with a group of friends. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was superb. We sat in the rasied part of the restuarant with a view right into the kitchen across the hot plate, we could see our meals being prepared by the chefs which gave me added confidence that i was about to receive a great meal, and it was. I expected the evening to be a quiet meal with good friends but after about 10.30pm when we were as full as a pack butchers hounds the lights were dimmed and a DJ played tunes which brought back memories of the 70's. We couldn't help but work off what we'd just eaten by dancing the night away until 2.00am. I left having drank more than I'd planned and having had a great night out. Can't wait until the weekend, i know exactly where I'll be. What a great venue.

First of all, what a fabulous site, well done to the publishers. The Place 2B has been transformed from an old drinkers boozer into a fabulous retuarant and bar and well done to the owners. I visit The Place on a regular basis and what a great experience it is. Food is first class, the service is superb and the atmosphere is relaxing. I have read mixed reviews about this restaurant and I disagree with anyone who says they don't like the place how can they not? I suggest maybe these people should stick to the chains of restuarants which dish out pre-cooked processed nonsence. Well done to The Place 2B, keep up the hard work and don't listen to these other people who haven't got a clue about what makes a good restuarant.

After hearing a variety of reviews about this particular restaurant, curiosity got the better of me, so i felt forced into paying a visit. I have lived in the area a few years, yet for some reason have never had the urge to dine here. Maybe the busy road its situated on turns me off or it may be the uninviting exterior- i do not know. However when me and my partner dined here for Sunday lunch we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was homely with background "sunday" music and a non existent count of sunday afternoon football monsters.

We were seated immediately by a waiter resembling Ashley Blakes mini-me (im sure this must be a marketing ploy) who was very attentive and polite throughout. After both opting for the soup of the day which was Mushroom our opinion of the Place 2B started to rise a little. Piping hot and tasted fresh which cannot be said for many other local pubs.

However the main course in which i had lamb and my partner had beef was less impressing. My lamb was slightly fatty and the veg seemed greasy. In saying this my partner felt the beef was more than adequate and the yorkshire pudding she recieved looked very inviting.

We could have had a third course for an extra £2 and didnt purely for te fact that we were stuffed! All in all not bad for a first visit, would go again!

After seeing the Place 2B recommended on this website, seven of us decided to give it a go. We booked a table for Saturday night (no need, as the restaurant was virtually empty!) and were initially impressed with the menu. However, despite being friendly and polite, our waitress was unable to answer basic questions about the dishes and when our order arrived it did so in phases so some of the food was cold by the time it had all arrived. Steaks were not cooked to our specifications and portion sizes were poor. We agreed unanimously that the food was overpriced and not of the quality that we had expected from such a promising menu. Desserts were good but, again, overpriced. The general ambience of the place was that of a second rate public house. Overall none of us would waste our hard earned cash visiting this establishment again. Take it out of the top tens!!!

I visited The Place 2B last night to celebrate my birthday. I was extremely disappointed, the food was well prepared but not particularly exciting and for what it was, over priced. The bar staff were not trained - could not even open a bottle of wine without assistance, and had no idea what a liqueur coffee was, and obviously could not prepare one. Not an experience I will be repeating!

There was 4 of us who went to the Restaurant on Valentines night. We go to this particular place quite regular. The food is excellent, and the staff are efficient and friendly, and you never seem to have to wait a long time for your meals to come out to you as well as the drinks, very efficient service.

We always take our mother their for mothers day, as she loves the place and she thinks that it is a nice treat to go and have a meal there.

The place 2B was chosen as a special treat for our friends fortieth birthday (she'll be so pleased I've told everyone) The food was of a very special quality with an excellent goats cheese tartlet starter, dressed with a chilli sauce, a very well presented salmon fillet dressed with two sauces and served with harrisa potatoes. An impressive bowl of seasonal vegetables was also presented all cooked to perfection. The dessert, a bailies cheesecake, was light and again beautifully presented. The service was excellent with waiters and waitresses engaging in friendly banter with 'proper' brummy accents. Mr Blake himself was present and made himself available for photographs and autographs. The only criticism I could find was that for the ‘larger’ diner the table area was a little cramped, however the waiting-on staff did their utmost to rectify the cramped area. All in all a lovely evening with good food, excellent wines & great company.
