Thai The Place 2B is a real jewel in the crown of Sutton Coldfield although it's right on the border with Erdington. Nevertheless, the food is simply delicious. I recently organised a 30th birthday party which was supposed to be at a hotel but we changed to The Place 2B at the last minute and what a great choice it was. Food; excellent, service; excellent, atmosphere; excellent. It's great to have such a superb place to visit.

Thai food is my favourite and I have to say this place is fabulous. Modern, comfortable, quite trendy for a Thai restaurant. The menu was extensive and the food was simply delicious, service is great, very friendly waitress. If you like Thai food as much as I do, then book now.

We weren't sure what to expect (what with the restaurant/bar/lounge label), but the food was delicious (if slightly more than a usual 'bar' cuisine) and the duck was cooked exquisitely. Although drinks weren't terribly pricey, this isn't the place I'd come to drink.

Would definately recommend for (youngish) groups - it's got a great social side, with seperate bar/lounge and dining areas - and the music is not intrusive to those on the raised restaurant level.

While slightly lacking in atmosphere on our visit (Sunday evening, 7pm), this place has the potential to be very busy at other times!

Thai The Place 2B in Sutton Coldfield came highly reccommended by a trusted friend so a group of six of us decided to pay a visit on Saturday 29th September. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and plan to make it a definate regular. The service was friendly and swift, the food was out of this world. We could see the Thai chefs cooking which always guarantees good food as far as I'm concerned. I reccomend you pay this place a visit. it certainly lived up to its name, The Place 2B for Thai food, well done we'll see you again soon.

We were escorted to the bar for drinks before our meal, the bar staff were lovely...

After our first drink we decided to sit down, after waiting about 10 minutes for a drinks order, from what appeared to be the manageress (She wasn't dressed in a uniform), everything seemed pretty sub standard, especially the service. The manageress seemed to lack interpersonal skills and was not really very good, there was a falseness to her.

Anyway, after ordering, the food came out, the starter portions were tiny, although the main courses seemed ample in size. To start we had a Gourmet Starter platter, it was nice, but there was no real presentation to it... For mains I had Ped Makhem, and my partner had Panang Curry... We shared some rice and noodles. Everything was pretty average and I feel over priced. Especially for the service.

A bunch of my friends and me attended Thai @ The Place 2B just last week and had a great time. I had Thai Curry and Jasmine rice my friends had various other dishes which we all shared, the food was delicious and the service was great. We were meant to go somewhere else after we'd eaten but decided to stay as we were having such a good time. The prices were very reasonable and I totally reccomend a visit. Someone told me a bloke of the tv owns it but I didn't see anyone famous.

My Partner and I visited The Place 2B with some friends of ours a little while back. It seemed an ideal location as it was within walking distance from their new home. We arrived at 8:30pm and it was very quiet in the bar area and even quieter in the restaurant which seemed a bad sign to start. The waitresses were very helpful and recommended a Red Mullet special to us which my friand ordered. As soon as the food was brought out, we were able to smell a very disturbing fishy smell coming from her plate! It was really quite disgusting and so we asked that they change it for the couscous stuffed peppers instead. I ate a chicken dish which had the saltiest gravy on it and unfortunately was also inedible. The two boys had ordered steak and their food was very good. Eventually the replacement peppers came out but it was so bland that my friend left her food. We were then charged full price- and although it was not expensive it was by no means cheap. The atmosphere was poor and the building itself, despite having recently been refurbished was in disrepair, which seemed so unfortunate for such a beautiful building and the attempted modernisation has ruined what could potentially be a fabulous place. Needless to say we shall not be returning any time in the near future.
