After waiting for over an hour for a meal, and noticing that tables who had ordered well after me were getting served first, i mentioned to the waitress who was serving that I felt this was unfair. The attitude of the waitress was abysmal, being rude and aggressive. The waitress then went on to be extreemly rude and agressive to another couple at another table when they also asked where their food wes.
I went into the bar to ask to see the meneger, and the waitress who had displayed such a bad attitude blatently sucked her teeth at me as she walked past me to serve food to yet another table who hAd arrived and ordered some 30 minutes after myself
I demanded and recieved a full refund for the food, however, the business has some serious staff training and customer care needs which it has to resolve. Pretty pub ruined by bad management !

We arrived on a lovely sunny day and managed to get a table overlooking the canal. That was as good as it got. There were 2 staff serving at the bar, taking both food and drink orders, despite quite a queue of people. I ordered a large white wine to be told there were no large wine glasses available. When I went to order food I was told that there would be a 45 minute wait, which I accepted as we had already sat down and had drinks. Upon ordering, I was told there were no baguettes available. The tables were full of used glasses and plates which were not cleared away. Other people had taken over tables and had been forced to pile plates with left-over food at the sides of the tables. When the food eventually did arrive, the chips were cold, the burger baps and bread for the sandwich were stale and the food in general was of a very uninspiring standard.
The staff, however, were very pleasant and clearly under-numbered hence the lack of clearing at the tables and queues at the bar. Overall, extremely disappointing and I will certainly never go back.

after passing the malt house on many occassions and commenting that it looked a lovely place we decided to go for a meal there one night after a hard day at work. when we got there we were more than inmpressed with the menu until we ordered and were told that hardly any of the food was avalible (after we had payed for it!) we then decided to order a scampi and chips and a steak and scampi and chips when it arrived the steak was more grizzel and fat then meat and the veg was undercooked. within the scampi i found a large peice of battered chicken which was undercooked. not normally one to moan but was really not satisfied with he service as the food is not really that cheap. we were told that the manager was not avalible and the waiter would call him otherwise there was not more he could do! we waited a further 20 minutes for the managers response and in the end we walked out and were given the managers name of chris and a telephoe number for the resurant. we were less than impressed. the resurant was dead and now we understand why we will not be returning again or sending any of out friends there!!!

I went to the malthouse hoping for a nice meal with a few of my friends. before we ordered our food we decided to get a soft drink. Before we even got to the bar the girl behind the bar stopped serving her current customer to loudly state that she hoped we had some id. we were quite baffled by this as from working in a bar myself it was my understanding that she should have waited to see if we were actually ordering anything alcoholic and carried out a little discression in the matter. while we were waiting to be served we noted that she was also being very rude with the woman she was serving.when she got to us she asked my two friends who were at the bar for id. i was not standing at the bar and she called me over for id. although my friends had theirs i did not have any on me, as at 20 years old i would have thought i could go to a pub in the afternoon and have a soft drink without it. The girl then stated that she was not going to serve us and before we could explain that we only wanted soft drinks walked off. needless to say we left and had no trouble buying a orange juice and a meal elsewhere. it is in my understanding that maybe she was right not to serve us as their policys may be different, however whether this was an isolated incident or how the malthouse train and allow their staff to behave her attitude was absolutely appaling and her customer service skills non existent. i will definately will not be going ther again and i would not recommend it to anyone.

After seeing an advertisement in the local paper for this restaurant we decided to give it a try.
We arrived at about 6.30pm and found a table quite easily, whilst my wife studied the menu I went to get a bottle of wine. I was surprised at the cost of a bottle of Echo Falls which was £11.95 - I normally pay about £6 for bottle and £3 in the supermarket.
We decided to go for the carvery at £4.95 but were very disappointed at the small portions of meat and the lack of vegetables - not only was there very limited choice they had been on display for a considerable period of time and did not look very appetising.
We did not stay for a dessert but went home and had a fresh fruit salad - we will not be going there again.
