Have been going to this pub for years with my family . Food has always been pretty good . However after the recent re-fit there are several things that have gone downhill .
Although the pub is very smart now , the introduction of a cheaper menu is evident in the food . A good sizzling plate may look good but generally leaves the food burnt . Also the removal of the ball pool and kid climbing frame from outside , coupled with the introduction of a pool table in the bar , which from my experience causes at least one kurfuffle between lads at some point on a weekend , makes the whole place feel a bit cheap and not half as family friendly as it was .

Had a briliant time at the pub. Recently reopened and looks amazing. Loads of comfy relaxed seating and really cheap wines. Brilliant value food and drink.
Staff really welcoming and friendly

The staff are friendly and always happy to help. The drinks prices are expensive compared to other pubs but there are always food offers in local newspapers so the food is good value.

I think that the staff are quite friendly if you a regular however if you are not a regular things are a little formal with some of the staff. The toilets are appaling. Not that long ago, Smithys Forge had a refurbishment but not a single thing was done to the toilets. The food is very good since the new menu, a smaller menu than last time but still excellent. The service is good most of the time however there have been a few occasions when the service was not that great. The prices have gone down on the new menu and I think the food is quite moderately priced.
