Ruby Cantonese (Leamington) review by Richard Malin
Having visited the Ruby twice in the evenings, both times having received great food and excellent service, last Sunday we tried their 'all you can eat' Sunday lunchtime buffet. I think I must have put on a stone and a half in about 2 hours! They don't rush you and you don't feel embarassed going back time and again to refill your plate! You can have soup to start, (the chicken soup is lacking in taste so go for the hot and sour option) then you have a choice of traditional Chinese/Cantonese starters, main courses, rice etc. There is even a small selection of puddings including fresh fruit and bannana fritters. A fabulous experience for gluttons like me and a very inexpensive way to sample what the Ruby offers, all for less than £9 a head and no washing up! Five of us had loads to eat and 2 drinks each and the bill was just £63! Booking is advised but it was quiet when we went. Be warned that you do get young families in there at lunchtime but it actually makes for a very relaxed atmosphere if all you want to do is stuff yourself into oblivion. Fabulous! By the way, the delightful staff are always pleasant and very funny.
Their take-away menu is also very good. Not cheap, but great food and good portions.
