Oddfellows in The Boat review by Richard Ward
The Boat is an informal bistro-style restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and superb food. After choosing your food from an enormous wall mounted blackboard, take a seat and your waitress will bring you a basket of freshly baked bread and real butter. Sadly, fewer restaurants give bread these days. The food is first rate. Cooked in an open kitchen, where the Chef will always have time to discuss your meal choice with you. From black pudding and bacon salad, though perfectly cooked scallops, to crispy belly pork or perfectly cooked fillet steaks, it's all good. The desserts are all home made too, something else that's a disappearing art in affordable restaurants! (Their panacotta is amazing!) The Proprieters are friendly and the waiting staff are all down to earth and helpful. The wine list is extensive and there are real ales on pulls. Prices are very good for the quality of the food. Well worth a visit!
